The CAY3 is a 40cm XLR to Mini XLR connector cable that allows microphones with 1 or 2 mini XLR connectors, like the RØDE Stereo VideoMic X, to be used with the XLR connectors on the camera or external recording device. The XLR pins are connected 1 on 1 for maximum compatibility with camera’s and microphones.

 

HOW TO USE THE CAY3

The setup example as shown below features the Canon C500, a professional cinema camera with built in XLR inputs, and an RØDE Stereo VideoMic X, that can be connected via the Peppercable CAY3. The Canon C500 is one of many camera's that contains at least one XLR input to record audio from a external microphone. The Stereo VideoMic X can be connected using 2 Mini XLR connectors. Therefore two Peppercable CAY3's are necessary to use this stereo microphone. Especially for this, and similar microphones, the CAY 3 was created.
